Vision Boards: Not just for design

You have probably seen vision or mood boards in design studios or advertising agencies. Basically, a vision board can be anything you want it to be. If you’re looking to redesign your home, you may turn to a vision board to layout the kind of styles you like or the color pallet you’re going for. If you’re looking to write a book, you might put together a number of words, scenes or even photos of the types of settings you’re looking into. It might even include a timeline of events.

The point of a vision board is to help you distill your intentions before you act. Ask yourself a few questions: What do you want, what do you need, what do you value and how do you want to feel when you’ve achieved those things?

It’s about here that you’re probably asking how this relates to restoration businesses and selling your business specifically. Well, a lot since your business at the moment is you. A vision board will help you start realizing what it is you want after you’ve sold your business, which will help inform how you go about prepping, how long it takes, and what you ultimately sell for.

Whenever you imagine your post business life, think about what you want to do and achieve and post it up on the board. You can use words, images or anything else you want. When you’re done, take a step back and look at what you’ve created. Are all of those images pointing toward a singular focus or are they skewed around?

I know it seems a bit out there but using a vision board will help you truly see what you’re trying to achieve.

Part of your vision board may be hazy too. How do you get to a place where you can build that vacation home by the lake and buy your boat? That’s what RESCON is here for you. We can help you realize that vision.
